After success being best seller novel, sold more than 500.000 copies, now Laskar Pelangi ready to be made into big screen movie. Produced by Miles Film co-operates with Mizan Cinema Productions, “B” Edutainment and Iluni UI.

Laskas Pelangi is a story about struggling of teacher and 10 students for education in Belitong. This film production idea begin from how Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza were admiring Andrea Hirata masterpiece which was published on 2004 for the first time.

As Laskar Pelangi producer, Riri Riza said : “Laskar Pelangi has unique story, fully dynamic life with appeareance of 10 strong character students and an ambitius teacher which has big and noble wishes. And Andrea Hirata is very important factor why we would make film based on this book. First time meet with Andrea, there is enthusiasm shown at himself. Meet him like watching bright shining sunny, very inspiring”.

For the author, Andrea Hirata, it’s not easy to permit his first masterpiece to be filmed. Off course Andrea has special reason why he entrust this film making to Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza. “ There are some reasons why I gave Laskar Pelangi story to Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza. First, Mira and Riri are cineasts which have integrity, during their work not just fullfill market pretension. Second, they have rare talent on artworks. They could make box office movie, but still top grade one. After interact with them for long time, I feel more sure if these two cineasts have sixth sense on making some work and have unique perspective,” Andrea said.

While due to Putut Widjanarko explanation, Mizan Publika Operation Vice President, Mizan involving into film production denotes logic consequences from Mizan development strategy into future. “ Mizan was proud by co-operating with Miles Films presenting film which is fully waited by public. Beside Laskar Pelangi book is published by one of Mizan publishing group, Bentang Buana.

After meetings and discussing with the author for a year, Salman Arisanto helped by Riri Riza and Mira Lesmana, begin script writing process. Actually production was prepared since July 2007, by script writing process, location surveying, and actors casting. “Within this production almost 100% shoots taken in Belitong. One thing makes this film special is, 12 actors, 10 member of Laskar Pelangi and 2 additional actors which play as Flo and A Ling, thay are native Belitong people” told Mira enthusiastic.

What Riri and Mira want is performing native Belitong children to build naturally chemistry between story and actors. “From the beginning we did not think about using outside actor for playing as Laskar Pelangi children figure. So, actor hunting and casting process already we did from the beginning of production,” Riri said.” Even these children have no experiences with acting world, but they are very talented childre, have courage, no shy to try, and the most important, they coould presented main figure at this film”, Mira continued.

After hunting and casting process in Belitong, finally 12 Belitong choosen to play as Ikal, Lintang, Mahar, Syahdan, Borek, Kucai, A Kiong, Sahara, Trapani, Harun, Flo and A Ling.

In spite of that, Mira doesn’t forget to perfom professional actor. 12 big name actors presence into this film, such as Cut Mini, Ikranegara, Lukman Sardi, Ario Baru, Tora Sudiro, Slamet Raharjo, Alex Komang, Mathias Muchus, Rieke Diah Pitaloka, Robbie Tumewu, Jajang C. Noer and Teuku Rifnu Wikana.

This film has General Audiences rating, means all ages admitted to watch this film. Planned to be showing in Indonesia on this year Idul Fitri vacation, probably around 29 September 2008. I can’t hardly wait this film

info taken from here

A few weeks ago, Dell announced that they would soon start shipping computers with an unknown distribution of Linux, and lo and behold, it seems that this is going to happen this month! According to Desktop Linux, these systems will come shipped with the latest version of Ubuntu. I’m not really surprised about this since everyone knows that Michael Dell uses this distro on his home laptop.

While unable to confirm this through official Dell channels, we have heard the same story now from several internal Dell sources. They tell us that the Austin, Texas, computer giant will be preinstalling the newly released Ubuntu 7.04. These systems will be released in late May 2007.

Now that Dell has made its move, only one question remains: How will their technical support division handle calls that come from Ubuntu users? Let us wait and see. I’m sure it won’t be long until we start hearing horror stories from disgruntled Dell customers.

INSPIRING TEACHERS

It’s been a few years since I was at high school but I still remember Miss Donovan, my inspiring history teacher at Wangaratta High School.
We’ve all had them - amazing teachers who’ve inspired us to achieve things we didn’t know we were capable of.
We still have them - dedicated men and women who give so much of themselves to our children, teaching them and then on top of that, running the school drama club, or staying behind to tutor a child who is falling behind: the teachers that mentor the new and inexperienced teachers, and the ones that run the professional development.
High teaching standards are the key to giving our children the education they need and deserve for their future. Of all the things a government can do to improve students’ learning, the most effective is to provide quality teachers.
What do we mean by standards?
A great teacher knows both the content of their subjects back to front, and how best to teach that content to their students.
Effective teachers understand the learning needs of their students. They can manage their classrooms and expect good behaviour from students so that they can learn effectively.
Good teachers are also good communicators, not just with their students but with parents and with the wider community.
Teachers understand that ongoing professional learning is part of the job. They understand that teaching is an unending challenge. They know they must continue to stay up to date with the detail of their subjects and the best ways to teach.
Make no mistake; good teachers make a difference to our children’s future. There’s also no denying that good teachers equip our children with many of the skills they will need in the future. It’s a huge responsibility and those who dedicate their lives to it deserve recognition.
Great teachers have inspired us, nurtured us and broadened our horizons. Our children need our classrooms to aspire to the highest standards in the world.

Empower a Child
This article was written for the typical new teacher who desires success and needs to be encouraged in order to increase their own self-confidence. The teacher who is successful in preparing for and managing his or her classroom understands that self-confidence and being a successful person and a successful teacher sometimes goes hand in hand. Do you know what self-confidence is?
• Self-confidence is the belief in you! It is the belief that you were created smart, capable, and beautiful. It is the belief that you may not be perfect, but you have positive attributes that you feel good about. All this has a lot to do with self-confidence. Self-confidence defines how you feel about yourself.
Are you self-reliant and independent?
Are you self-motivated and self-starting?
Do you always need someone looking over your shoulder?
If you are one who does not need to be told what to do, you get things done just because you know it needs to be done, then you are independent but not necessarily confident.
And independent and self-reliant person will not need to be told to return from lunch on time, keep his or work area clean and free of clutter, nor to complete a task at work.
An independent and self-reliant person will do these things just because they need to be done.
• Do you have self-respect and self pride? These also play an important role in your self-esteem. Self-esteem is your own satisfaction with yourself. The fact that you know you are intelligent, beautiful, or talented plays a major role in your self-esteem. The way you feel about what you are able to do is also part of your self-esteem. Do not confuse a person with self-confidence and high self-esteem with a person who is arrogant and full of pride. There is such a thing as too much self-importance. The better your self-esteem, the more self-confidence you will have. The more confidence you have the better you will be at work, in school, in church, or the community. A confident person will even have better relationships with both family and friends.
A teacher is a person who organizes, operates, manages, and takes the risk in educating young people expecting to gain profit in the form of increased knowledge in his or her students.
Being a successful and confident teacher involves patience, knowledge, skill, and time. You learn more about successful teaching in the classroom than from textbooks.
A good teacher not only encourages her students to ask questions, research, read, and learn but is not afraid to do so herself. As you access information about your business of teaching and gain more knowlwedge through your experience in the classaroom you also build your confidence. The more confidence you have the better your classroom and your teaching experience will be. A successful teacher must have self-confidence! Your classroom and your students will be a reflection of your confidence.
There are 10 things you can do to build your own confidence and become a successful teacher.
1. Never wait on others for encouragement and inspiration, learn to inspire yourself. Be inspired by the success of your students.
2. Always keep your cool when in front of a students, parents, and co-workers.
3. Keep a positive attitude overcoming insecure, avoiding depression, and other negative behavior.
4. Strive to be a balanced overachiever, you can’t be successful if you don’t give it all you’ve got.
5. Don’t be easily irritated and unnerved when things seem to be going wrong. Remain calm even when faced with challenges.
6. Always have a friendly aura, it promotes your confidence and inspires other teachers as well, especially on those days where is seems you are not reaching your students.
7. Be a leader and major contributor in your school, volunteer to head a committee at work, church, community, and social groups.
8. Be prepared for a learning and teaching opportunity at all times.
9. Organize every work day.
10. Now this is the hard one. Never give up.

Hello everyone! Wow, what busy days I have! After becoming one the finalists in the Blogfest 2008, I have lots of things to do at school so that I hardly have time to go blogging again! Going back to class to teach just grab my time away. But fortunately I have some free time now to continue updating this blog!

Lawang sewu, as people say, is exotic not only because of its magnificent style but also for the horror stories about this building. Many people admit that they ever see strange creatures or hear peculiar voices around the building. Because of the famous supernatural atmosphere, It became one of the places to hold the formerly famous TV program ”Uji Nyali” in Trans TV. In the TV program the contestant failed the test since he admitted seeing horrible creatures in the building, and decided to quit. People may have noticed the “spooky” atmosphere of the building even from outside. In addition, when we get inside this building, even in the daytime, we will indeed feel this atmosphere even stronger. Do you want to feel the strange atmosphere offered by Lawang sewu?? Why don’t you witness it by yourself?? Lawang sewu is extremely easy to find. It is located right in the middle of Semarang city near tugu Muda. Come on! Come here and see how brave you are!

Hi there! What comes to your mind when reading the above title? It seems contradictory, doesn’t it? How can something be beautiful and at the same time gloomy? Yup, it’s a little bit odd. However, it is true. The title above is just right to describe the dark but somehow exotic Lawang sewu. Where can you find it? You can only locate it here in Semarang.

Located at Gajah Raya street, The great Mosque of Central Java occupies a vast area of land around 10 hectares, and it is able to hold more than 13.000 people. This great mosque combines the traditional architectural style from the era of the “wali” with the universal Islam architecture.

The outstanding part of the mosque is the main dome which is decorated with sharp minaret on its four sides. People also say that the design is also inspired by Nabawi Mosque in Medina. The other amazing stuffs we can see here are six electric umbrellas, around 48 meters in diameter, which are used to protect the pilgrimages from the heat of the sun. The coloring and the interior of the mosque is carefully designed. The design is mostly influenced by Javanese cultures and also Islam cultures in general. It is obvious from some of the ornaments found inside the Mosque. We can see some wayang characters (puppet shadow), and Batik ornaments.

The whole area of the mosque includes radio station, offices, shops, rooms for training, hall for meetings, libraries and other facilities. The radio station usually broadcasts Islamic songs and teachings. In addition, the visitors can see the view of Semarang from the top of a tower near the main mosque. Soaring as high as 99 meters above the land, this tower is especially designed similar to the Kudus Mosque tower. The height of the tower is said to reflect the superiority of God. To be able to see the view of Semarang from the top of the tower we need to pay around Rp. 3000, and we can see the scenery clearly if we use the provided binoculars. However, we need to insert a coin of Rp. 500 to use those binoculars for about one and a half minute.

Beside the tower, visitor can also see the giant hand-written Al-Quran (Islam’s holy book) written by H Hayatuddin from UNSYIQ Wonosobo. Visitors can also the the replica of the great “Beduk” of Purworejo. Shortly, other than a place for religious purposes, this mosque is also an interesting place for all of family members to spend their free time. So, why don’t you visit this place??? See you.

I have been tried for many templates at blogger, and i'm not found yet one suitable for me. I want to make my owntemplates but its need so much time to learning, and practising it. And now i make a decisiion make two of blog adress, one for trial and the other for serious project of writing and sharing.

I try to write in english too because i want to try using Ads Sense or any service like that.
I glad too because i get the good link at blogspot. Macam pulut its a Malay (Melayu) adverb for thing look soo good and nice. I'll try to make this like the meaning of it is.

So hopefully this not only the first but also the starter to be better day by day. When I'm posting this it almost Indonesian Independence day. I wish i can get free to play. learn and try the new thing with new habbit. No wasting time, and CommIT with time. Allahumma Amin.
